REDWOOD CITY, Calif.– July 8, 2013 – Openwave Mobility, a software innovator enabling operators to manage and monetize growth in mobile data, today announced that the company have surpassed the 300 million subscriber milestone for their standalone Smart User Repository (SUR) Subscriber Data Management (SDM) solution.
Openwave Mobility SUR gives operators high speed and low latency access to subscriber data consolidated into a central repository that can be accessed by any external applications. No other industry solution can match the performance of SUR, which offers over 80,000 read operations per second and 25,000 write operations per second with the smallest hardware footprint in the industry. SUR is also highly scalable – it has been tested for up to 500 million subscribers for millisecond latency – and has continuously operated with 5-9’s efficiency over many years at customer locations.
In order to grow mobile data revenues, operators must manage the challenge of “data everywhere”, whereby subscriber data, including profiles, billing, and device details, are fragmented and split across multiple network architectures. SDM has become a strategic imperative for mobile broadband infrastructures for rationalizing the way subscriber data is exploited. Openwave Mobility SUR empowers mobile operators with centralized management of all subscriber data and is designed to leverage that data to reduce innovation cycle periods and reduce OPEX.
According to a 2012 SNS Telecom report, the SDM market is predicted to account for close to two billion USD in revenue, at a CAGR of 30 percent, by 2016. Openwave Mobility is aware of the growing demand for SDM solutions, and has been developing its Subscriber User Repository to meet those demands in alignment with the 3GPP User Data Convergence reference architecture. Currently, over 300 million subscribers are managed by Openwave Mobility’s standalone SDM solution in over seven different countries in The Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions.
“The next step in optimizing operator networks is to fully utilize subscriber data. However, subscriber data is ingested from a number of different structural and physical locations, and a variety of other sources,” said Stephane Honore, Chief Technologist, Openwave Mobility. “In order for operators to turn the data collected from disparate sources into actionable intelligence, they must be able to centrally manage this information to deliver personalized content to subscribers. Openwave Mobility’s Smart User Repository technology provides operators with scalable, efficient, and fast access to actionable subscriber data.”
