Openwave Mobility Receives Highest Recognition in Two Product Categories for the 2012 Mobile Star Awards

Honoring top mobile products as chosen by readers of MobileVillage’s email newsletter, Go Mobile, Openwave Mobility’s Media Optimizer solution achieved SUPERSTAR status in the “Operator Solutions: Media Delivery” category, receiving superior ranking against other companies competing in the category that included Citrix Bytemobile, 3G Multimedia, Vantrix, Bluestreak Technology and Smith Micro. Additionally, Openwave Mobility’s Promotion and Pricing Innovation (PPI) solution also achieved SUPERSTAR status in the “Operator Solutions: Subscriber Device Management” category.

Openwave Mobility’s Media Optimizer is an intelligent device- and policy-aware solution that empowers operators to deliver online video content while reducing network congestion. Media Optimizer automatically identifies data congestion “hot spots” and switches on to manage network traffic. The solution limits constraints on carriers’ bandwidth and enhances the end-user experience by matching the available network resources with the video being played. Openwave Mobility’s Promotion & Pricing Innovation (PPI) solution creates easy-to-understand, application-based charging models that put subscribers in control of how they use their data. These solutions enable operators to charge for data provision based on the type of data being used. The application-based price plans create greater personalization in comparison to more universal tiered data charging methods. The solution takes into consideration subscriber circumstances, behavior and the data content to create price plans based on the service and applications they value.
