#Enea4India – Raising funds to support relief and COVID recovery in India

Time to read: 2 minutes

It is that time of year again! We are once again gearing up for our annual fundraising event. This year our chosen charity is in India. Our Enea colleagues in Pune have nominated a charity they have been working with amidst some tragic loss of life over the past months, not least due to COVID-19, and sadly including some of our own team’s families.

Supporting our colleagues in India – as they support others

#Enea4India will take place from Sept 17-19 and will be a worldwide event of sponsored activities taking place across 3 continents – so far this includes participants in Pune, Belfast, Spain, Canada, Sweden, Austria, USA and the UK. In a year when much of the world is still struggling with the effects of COVID-19, the 2021 fundraiser is set to be our biggest yet.

We will be donating funds to the Indian charity, Aadharwad Foundation. The Foundation operates close to our Pune office where a team cycle-ride and walk will be taking place simultaneously with team events in Belfast, and individual events worldwide. The charity was founded by tech-graduates well known to some of our Pune team so we know the money will be used well.

The Aadharwad Foundation was established in Maharashtra, India (location of our Enea office) to support mainly rural farmers and their families no matter their caste or religion, teaching them advanced farming strategies that improve productivity and assisting them in receiving medical care. The foundation also supports local children to receive an education that will allow them to reach their full potential and build a brighter future.

COVID-19, coupled with the heavy July floods that were experienced in Maharashtra, means that the work of the Aadharwad Foundation has never been more essential. Several of our staff have been working hard to support them, raising funds and awareness both before and during the COVID crisis, delivering not only humanitarian assistance and education programs but also COVID specific relief.

Funds raised by Pune, Belfast and elsewhere for #Enea4India will be specifically directed to 3 areas:

  1. Continuing relief work in the rehabilitation of under-privileged families in Maharashtra, regardless of caste and religion.
  2. Funding of a COVID Specialty Medical Centre in a rural part of Maharashtra, offering medical treatment free of charge and much needed Portable Oxygen Concentrators.
  3. Supporting the education of children from under-privileged backgrounds, orphans, and physically challenged children. From providing uniforms and books to career counselling and study centres.
