Everybody knows that Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) technology will fundamentally change how telco networks are designed, deployed and operated. Like most mobile technology shifts it has been over-hyped for several years; and like most mobile technology shifts, once it actually begins to take place many will find that they are slow to realise the train is starting to leave the station.
And so for all the talk about NFV, some service providers continue to delay taking action — not too surprising considering the general industry noise and confusion, and all the competing standards and concerns over integration challenges. But market forces are pushing network providers to evolve, and much of this transformation will only be made possible with virtualization. In fact, Tier One telcos are now on the verge of deploying NFV at scale and betting big on virtualization.
Ready or not, NFV is getting real in 2017.
That’s why we teamed up with leading industry analysts at ABI Research, IHS, and Strategy Analytics to help mobile operators formulate a winning strategy. Together, we’re creating The NFV Playbook 2017.
The NFV Playbook is a series of exclusive but short briefing papers detailing the real state of NFV. They will be released over the following 6 months. With help from respected industry analysts as well as experienced practitioners deploying NFV within mobile operators, we are cutting through the hype to get to the real story on the current state of NFV.
Check out the Playbook to learn what’s really happening with NFV rollouts, including real-world lessons from early trials and the top use cases for NFV. Other topics to be covered in the series include reviews of major technology platforms, and secrets to achieving real digital transformation and business ROI. Each report is designed to be read in 10 minutes or less.
We’re kicking off the series with a look at “The real state of NFV rollouts in 2017.” Firstly ABI Research analyst Dimitris Mavrakis presents an informative, top-down view of the current state of NFV deployments, including the deployment models and strategies being adopted by mobile operators, as well as future market predictions. Secondly we have a “view from the coalface” – an alternative view of NFV rollout from practitioners working within mobile operators. This includes six key pitfalls some operators are experiencing, from vendor lock-in to financial mis-alignment.
One time registration for The NFV Playbook 2017 ensures you will get all the information you need to get off the sidelines and tackle NFV in 2017.
